landscape study 9.25.9

Man, the weather today was just spectacular.
I would have liked to have spent more time
outdoors today, but I did do a one hour
study of my neighbor's yard.

Portrait update! 9.25.9

Well, here is another product of my practice.
I'm trying to put into practice everything I've
learned while having measurements be the underlying
idea that I give the most attention to.

Another try

The last photo was taken from afar with glare from the
nearby window. Gah, I prefer how it looks from a distance.
I'd like my completed painting to work up close as it does
when viewed from across the room.

Practicing Measurements

Over the weekend I became aware that I
need to buckle down and practice correct
measurements. After having received the
motivation to do so I started to do some
photo studies. I'll create them in paint as well.

Still Life update:9.10.9

Here is another still life that I
created. Having been tired and frustrated,
I wielded my palette knife to quickly
carve some color into the mass on the left,
which embarrassingly was an onion, and was
somewhat pleased with the effect.

Still Life update!!:9.9.9

Well, I have found that the subject matter
of still life lends itself quite well to
practicing certain things that are less
understood. Hopefully, they won't move
and shift like the figure, or even undergo
drastic changes like a landscape. David
Leffel had said something along the lines
of "you are limited by what you least
understand", and I totally agree. I'm
starting to see my chain links that need
to be strengthened.

stuff

Well, I had known that the AVAA session would be canceled yet
I still went to paint something. This is kind of an inside
joke regarding subject matter.(It is supposed to be a dumpster).

P.S.-Fuck, I'm going to do some mentally draining exercises on
measurements and proportions because I'm tired of continually
failing in that aspect of art creation.

Figure painting update

Here are two paintings that I created on monday night,
the left being from a 30min pose and the other from
a 20 min. The 20min is more successful than the one
created from an even longer pose which makes me happier
than not. I know a beautiful, completed painting can
be created in such a short pose because I've been
fortunate to watch one being created. So, I have
something to aim for.

Figure painting

Here is a figure painting I created last Saturday morning:
