painting on Mondays

I'll continue to use oils during the Monday night
figure sessions to practice laying down the right
stroke of paint having the right value, color, size
and edge quality.

I'm more confident painting during a short session
rather than a longer pose, say three hours. I think
that the longer the pose the more mistakes that can be
made; while on a shorter pose a few calculated correct
strokes can finish the painting.

landscape study

Well here is a landscape I painted
of a watering hole at McKinney falls.
I switched the painting to black and white.
I'm not too happy with the way I paint and I'm
trying to get away form all the blocky blobs
of color. Anyways, I see so many things that
are wrong and I know I'll have to be conscious
of them on my next paintings.

Daily Painting:Noise Maker

Eh, a quick study to try and put down the colors I see.
As I placed paint strokes onto the canvas I could hear
the same subject matter echoing in the treetops outside.

A portrait and a speedpaint

I joined a portrait painting session that
is held every Friday. Here is my first
one from the group:

Felt like I needed to paint something yesterday; so I went outside
and carried my oils with me:
