Eh, this landscape looks too simple when viewed from close up, where you would be able to reach out and touch it. So, I'll keep it a thumbnail size, oh and make it achromatic too. Frustrated:/
"Nature does not capriciously scatter her secrets as golden gifts to lazy poets and luxurious darlings, but imposes task when she presents opportunity." ~Edgar Payne~
Here are two paintings that I recently created during the Sunday AVAA session, each painting was created in one hour, the time limit helps me to commit to every stroke and move on to the larger picture that I have in mind.
I love my pocked sized digital sketchbook; the nintendo DS equipped with the Colors application. I think this is a great tool for color studies, which I noodled out these two yesterday at AVAA:
Phew, this is the largest landscape I have attempted so far, 20x16. I went out to the greenbelt to do a field study, and then with the study and a photo I completed a large painting in my studio. I felt as if I was in control from the very beginning to completion.
These were done on Sunday during the 30min pose session held at the AVAA building. I'm enjoying the shorter painting sessions more than I had in the past, 30 mins is enough time to create a pleasing composition, which means getting the whole down on canvas.
I enjoyed the painting process and had fun on this painting but still lacked the understanding that I had wanted. Later that day I learned some revealing things that I shall put into practice.
Here is a portrait that I had painted earlier today during Eve Larson's session. It was too messy so I wiped it after snapping the photo for evidence of this fact. Afterall, a canvas wiped today is a canvas good for another day.
Man, the weather today was just spectacular. I would have liked to have spent more time outdoors today, but I did do a one hour study of my neighbor's yard.
Well, here is another product of my practice. I'm trying to put into practice everything I've learned while having measurements be the underlying idea that I give the most attention to.
